Background

Energy efficiency is one of Singapore’s key strategies to mitigate the impact of climate change and at the same time improve economic competitiveness and enhance energy security. Singapore aims to promote energy efficient technologies and measures, develop energy efficiency capability and raise awareness of energy efficiency among businesses and the public. S$18.9 million of the 2009 budget is allocated to fund related programmes.

Germany enjoys an outstanding reputation throughout the world for its high-quality technical products and its practical expertise, particularly in the field of energy efficiency. In April 2009, Germany unveiled proposals to become the most energy-efficient country in the world.

Symposium

The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology with the support of the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC) would like to invite interested parties to the Energy Efficiency Symposium on 16 June 2009. Our Guests-of-honour will be Dr Amy Khor, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, and Ms Christiana Markert, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The symposium will provide an ideal platform for representatives of companies and government authorities as well as of R&D and academic institutions to establish new business contacts and exchange ideas with a delegation of German companies and industry experts from the Energy Efficiency sector. The event is supported by the Economic Development Board, Building & Construction Authority, National Environment Agency as well as the Sustainable Energy Association Singapore, Spring Singapore, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Singapore Business Federation.
