Key to the success of this year's winners was the commitment of top management to continually identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements - through measures such as actively engaging process owners, conducting energy audits and tracking their energy improvement initiatives on a regular basis. These steps are the foundations of an energy management system, which companies are encouraged to implement to reap energy savings and contribute to Singapore's sustainability efforts.

Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO) Assessor Certification Scheme

At the event, Dr Khor also announced the launch of a new certification scheme for energy efficiency professionals. The EEO Assessor Certification Scheme, which is jointly developed by NEA and The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES), aims to build a pool of competent engineers to help industrial companies assess the energy performance of their facilities and processes, and identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvement.

“EEO Assessors are engineers who have a unique blend of industrial experience and energy management expertise. They will play a crucial role in helping companies evaluate the energy performance of energy-consuming processes, systems and equipment, and identify and recommend viable energy efficiency improvement opportunities. We hope that the certification and recognition scheme will inspire practising engineers, and those aspiring to be one, to build a career in energy efficiency to support Singapore’s journey towards a low carbon economy”, said Dr Khor.
